Strategic framework for security and justice for development
Resumen
Ensuring safe environments for sustainable development is the central focus of the strategic security framework for development published by CAF. The analysis explores how crime, violence, and insecurity are critical barriers to inclusive growth in Latin America and the Caribbean, with particular emphasis on the threat posed by transnational organized crime to regional democracies. The publication sets out conceptual guidelines to steer CAF’s interventions in the field of security, aligning with international treaties, the Sustainable Development Goals, and the efforts of other multilateral organizations. With a multidimensional and multilevel approach, the framework proposes coordinated public policies in prevention, human and urban development, and institutional strengthening, placing citizens at the center of these efforts. It also promotes collaboration among the state, civil society, and the private sector, as well as transnational cooperation through networked efforts that help understand risk dynamics and develop effective responses.
